    Question

i am worried about SC'ing my car, or just doing a JDM swap. i have a couple of questions...

how do shops hook up to JDM engines without OBDII?

if the car has 94K miles on it, how much more could i expect out of it under normal driving and a little pushing?

i can go JDM B16a for the same price, if not a little more, but then i am almost certain i can get more miles out of it, a lot more reliably too.

i am 17 and i don't want to go turbo because i can upgrade, and that means more money, power, and eventually too much power leading to my death! with the possibility to upgrade, i will, but at least with a SC i can't go TOO much further.

what could i take out with a JRSC/h/e and a decent suspension? imports and domestic.

would it have so much power that when it rains, the tires will spin uncontrollably?

sorry to bombard you guys like this, but my mind is going about 1000mph(as always, ADD, 147IQ) and i would love it to quench my thirst for knowledge.

    thanks,
    -Snyder

First off what model car do you have...I would guess a Civic since you said it was a single cam...as you can see in my sig line...I like to do engine swaps...if I were you I would go that route...if you need any more info you can post here or email me at [email protected] ...oh and by the way if you want some info on engine swaps you might want to check this site out http://hybrid.honda-perf.org/index.html ...look at the discussion boards...they have a wealth of info on them

Do the B16A swap first... then save up again and add the blower. Then you will have a very formidable challenger for most domestic street cars.

    Swap. Swap. Swap.

Don't waste your time on the D16 unless you've got lots of time and patience and $$$.

    Again, WELCOME to the board.

If you want decent power out of this engine, turbocharged it. Even if I'm definitely not regretting turbocharging mine, if I had to do it again I would do a swap, probably a B18C1.

isn't the c1 non-vtec? i know it has more torque, and you can do the LS/VTEC conversion, but aren't Frankenstien motors unreliable?

if they are about the same in reliability, i'd rather do a B20 conversion, evcen MORE torque.

what do you guys think about JDM motors?

The b18c1 is a 94+ gsr motor. The b20 is a great street motor because of the fat powerband from about 2500-6500 rpms...get on the gas and go. Plus you can pick up the swap package for around $2100.

The b16 motors are a little quicker in the 1/4 and in road racing but the power comes on much later in the powerband and you can add another $1k to the price tag.

The b18c1 is a great combination of torque and high rpm output and IMO your best bet for all around performance.

Just for refenence, I have a friend w/ a 92hb running jdm b16a, ctr cams, itr manifold, filter on a stick intake, spoon ecu and a msd ignition running 13.8 all day long.
